I have a paper to write...where's the beer?

I find that I have completly fallen back into my cycle of procrastination. It is involving less alcohol than it once did, but its still the same.

Oh, and I got an interview with Deloitte! Yeah! It says that it is for full time, but they do know that I'm really looking for an internship for next summer...cross your fingers and wish me luck. It would be really cool to have next summer planned out already. In case your curious, an internship from this interview would put me in Houston or Dallas. ;)

The Champagne of Beers

I feel like I should give a little more background into the Miller High Life story, for those of you who are not familar with it.

About 4 years ago, Maureen and I threw a Peach Bowl party (since known as the New Years Eve party of that year). There was a pretty good crowd, lots of drinking, and plenty of games. A couple of the guys had brought over 2 cans of Miller High Life and proceeded to only drink one of them, the other stayed in the refrigerator. When those same guys came over for the next party and spoted the High Life, they gave Maureen and I so much greif for having "the champagne of beers" in our refrigerator. Needless to say, the beer has never been opened and has become a long standing joke. It has made several moves (it is 4 years old), been un-refrigerated for long periods of time and has generally been a standing fixture in our refrigerator. I believe I was supposed to take it with me when I moved back to BR, but I managed to leave it in Austin with Maureen. She has apparently decided that it is time for me to take possession of the High Life once more.

Bio Lab

I just got an email from a guy asking for help with his bio lab project...aparently, he thinks I'm his group member. Me working on a biology project. That would be a bad idea!

The semester Business Career Fair was last night. Wow. What an uncomfortable event. Career days in general are often painful, but the business one can be especially bad. You have to dress in business suits, pantyhose and heels...yuck. Then you walk around and stare uncomfortably at presenters who are not necessarily wearing business dress (I think its unfair to make us dress up in suits if they can wear kaikis or jeans). In addition, there is an Internal Audit only room (highly intimidating). It wasn't too bad last night b/c a lot of students that accepted positions with the companies they interned with were recruiting. It was much less intimidating to walk up to them and then be introduced to the recruiters. I did make some good contacts about a potential internship next summer and handed out 4 or 5 resumes to various companies. Yeah for me! I feel like a grown-up.

It's 8am, do you know where your Miller High Life is???

My compliments to Maureen for her creativity, but I'm damn glad that I caught that Miller High Life in my luggage before I left your apartment.

In a surpising burst of energy, she placed the High Life in a plastic baggy deep down into my luggage while I was in the bathroom this morning. Knowing her as well as I do, I did not expect for her to jump out of bed and do that so early in the morning. Unfortunatly for her, she didn't count on me having to pull everything out of my luggage to find my deoderant...

Well played....

yummy

I'm having a rough day for eating. I've been enjoying many of my favorite Austin foods (tien hong black pepper beef, Chipotle steak burrito, bubble tea) but I'm am completely unable to eat without spilling food all over me. I stained my t-shirt with black pepper beef last night, took a shower in Chipotle rice this afternoon and (while telling Maureen that God was punishing her for making fun of my inability to eat and not spill food by splashing her with rain) my shoe slips on the metal grate that I was walking on and I get splashed my bubble tea! I can't win today!

Rain Delay

A week late, but we're finally getting rain from Ivan. Downgraded to a Tropical Storm/Depression (depending on which channel you watch) it moved into the area late last night. Apparently the little taste that it had of the Louisiana coastline wasn't enough and it came back for a second visit. I just hope it doesn't follow me to Austin this weekend!

Ho Diddly Dum

I haven't posted much lately...not a whole lot going on. With no new threats of hurricanes, it doesn't look like I'm going to have any random days off this week. Last Friday was a strange day at school...it felt like a Monday (I even had a test), but had the benefits of actually being a Friday. The test was difficult and made worse by the fact that the professors try to trick you by switching information around on you. I think that is just plain meanness.

On the up side, due to LSU Hurricane Holiday, my class was given the option of taking the test then (as scheduled) or taking a makeup test this upcoming Friday. I opted to take the test as scheduled in order to a.) take advantage of bonus points they offered and b.) I plan on leaving Friday morning for Austin. Since we were given a choice, I was one of only about 45 people (out of about 200) that took the test. Our professor was pissed and decided to give those of us who took the test bonus points and refused to teach the information we missed (from the days off) to the people who still have to know it for their test this Friday. I also think this is kinda crappy (to give students the option and then yell at them for taking it) of the professors to do, but I am very glad that I took the test when I did.

The rest of the weekend was pretty quiet. Saturday's game was a little disappointing, but the teams were pretty evenly matched. Plus, its always more fun to see LSU drop in the polls and then fight their way back up. One of the best parts about last season was the drama that went on...

Tropical Update

Well, fortunately, Hurricane Ivan has been rather disappointing thus far. While I'm enjoying the time off from school, especially considering that I have a test on Friday afternoon that I'm not totally prepared for, we haven't been feeling too much of the hurricane yet. The wind has picked up, but no rain yet. Another thing to be glad about is the fact that LSU hasn't called back their cancellation of Thursday's classes. Do any of ya'll remember when they did that for Hurricane Georges?

Out of boredom, Renee' and I made a trip to Winn Dixie to pick up a few random goods. We are making a S'mores Bread Pudding and needed to get some extra milk. I think every one in Baton Rouge had the same idea. It was like a game day Saturday...apparently, other people are bored, have time and feel the need to cook. I'm guessing we aren't the only ones having Gumbo tonight...

Stupid Tests...

I just did something that I never thought I would do. I turned down a role in a movie. Granted, it was a roll of an extra, but it pays $50/hour. Stupid accounting tests. Damn "education".

I think it would be a lot of fun to be an extra in a movie. Just to get that behind-the-sceens look at what goes into a Jerry Bruckheimer production would be an interesting experience.

Oh, well, my star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is just going to have to wait until I graduate!

Movie Star

Hey guys - I know that most of you will be in Austin for the ACL Fest, but for those of you who will be or could be in the BR area, this sounds like fun...any takers?

Also, Maureen, I was wrong when I told you that they had been doing the pajama game for the last few years. This is only the 2nd year that they've done it. Renee' insists that they try to resurrect the tradition every few years, but haven't been very sucessful in the past...(she said the words "pajama game" with the same disdain in her voice that she has for the poncho fad that is going on right now)

GEAUX TIGERS!
