Snow Day

We had a snow day in Erlanger, KY yesterday. It snowed about 2-3 inches on Monday night, leaving the roads kinda icey, so they closed the office that we are working out of....never mind the fact that we would only have to drive a mile to get there. Our bosses were still determined to make it in, but the building manager wouldn't let them do it. So, we had a snow day and worked from the hotel....too bad we couldn't work from the hotel bar, but you have to work with what ya got.

I verbally challenged two of my co-workers to a snow ball fight, but we worked such long hours yesterday that none of us were up for it (this probably worked in my favor.....they're both from Jersey and would have totally kicked my ass).

Anyway, the snow was pretty, especially last night when it was sleeting and making the snow all glittery. A lot of it has melted today, but i'm still enjoying it.

Really Long Time...No Post

Its been a while....yes, i am still traveling every week to Kentucky. I have another 6 weeks or so on the project before I'm back in Houston for a couple of weeks, then onto New Orleans for 2 months. I'm excited about that assignment...it will be a nice change of pace from my current one, and it will be good to be back in Louisiana for a while. Overall, work is going well...its keeping me busy and out of trouble (for the most part), but then again, its Kentucky...do they have trouble in Kentucky??? The most I've found is in the form of alchoholic drinks with glow sticks...they're so pretty, its hard not to order another one.

Healthwise, I haven't been at the top of the game since Christmas....but after a series of doctor's visits, bloodwork, and a lot of shots, it doesn't look like anything is really wrong with me, other than a pesky auto-immune disease. I haven't really talked much about it, because with as much humor as I try to use in dealing with it, it is certainly not something that I'm happy about. Its not life threatening, but it is life altering. I have alopecia areata and I'm going ever increasingly bald. I do have a moderate case, it's only affected about 1/4 of my scalp...while most of the spots that I have are easily hidden, as they continue to show up, I fear that I won't always be able to hide them. I'm sure I will just get frustrated one day, buy a wig, and shave my head. I've named the spots...Joey, John, Danny, Jordan, Donnie, Frankie (blue eyes), Dean and the most recent addition (and Maureen's suggestion) Sinead. It is more common than people realize, but most people don't talk about it. Since that's not really my style, the people that read this blog will probably hear me talking about it incessently. Treatment is going well, but its rather painful (i liken it to the tattoo, but without the pretty body art results at the end, unless I play "connect the dots" with the needle marks) as it consists of 40-50 shots of cortisone solution in my scalp once a month.

Anyway, that's about it for the life of Erin at the moment. I need to go pack so that I can catch my plane for KY this afternoon. I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
