Business Trip, Week 1

I've been in New Orleans since Monday. So far my first week with a real client on a real audit (as opposed to training) is going well. I like the client a lot and I am enjoying the people that I work with.

The hotel I'm staying at is nice and swanky. I'm really looking forward to spending 2 more weeks here. I should be in NO for a couple of weeks after that, but I'm not sure where I'll be staying.

One of the advantages of doing business in New Orleans is, of course, the food. I need to make sure to pack some workout clothes next week. If they are taking space in my bag, maybe I'll be inspired to go work out.

The disadvantage of working in New Orleans is the fact that several of my neighbors are tourists and we are staying a block or two of Bourbon. I was wakened to sounds of door slamming and things falling over in the room next door.

That's all I can write now....gotta run.

New Experience

Learned how to use an EpiPen last night...my roommate is no longer allowed to give her allergy shot to herself! Poor thing, her leg is bruised from where I hit her with that thing.

Orientation and Training Week

Days 1 & 2 of the internship have gone well. Day 1 was orientation. While not thoroughly exciting, it was interesting. So far the only demands of "Intern, bring me coffee" have come from Greg...damn tax people. ;)

Day 2 was the first day of actual training. While many interns were hoping that we'd end up someplace exciting (like Dallas), they decided to do the training in Houston. The other interns and new hires from Dallas, Kansas City, New Orleans and St. Louis are in town for the week. I've enjoyed what I've seen so far and the only complaint I could have is that they didn't really let us leave the small auditorium where our training is taking place. We were able to take breaks and all, but lunch was brought in...so, we spent 9 1/2 hours in an auditorium.

I'm tentativly scheduled to spend about 5 weeks in New Orleans, starting next Monday. I don't know any more details than that and things can change, but I think I will definately be spending a few weeks there. I'll keep you posted.

Oh, and serving baked beans to a bunch of people locked up in a small room??? Really!
