Entertainment

So, I think God was having a day of laughter at my expense...

There were several times today where things just ended up being much harder than they needed to be. When I was in a rush, things would take forever. For instance, I had 3 classes, back to back, today. In between the first and second class, with only 10 minutes to get to the second class, I ran to the restroom and then I went downstairs in CEBA to grab something out of the snack machine. Needless to say, the vending machine had a long line, it wouldn't take my dollar and it didn't want to give me my M&Ms (God's way of telling me I didn't need them?). At the last minute, as I was about to put another dollar in because, dammit, I wanted those M&Ms, the machine finally let go of not only MY M&Ms but the bag behind it also. I could hear the snickering.

It wasn't just that things were harder than they needed to be, they were also easier than I wanted them to be. After a short workout at the Rec, (not the Pilates I normally do on Thursdays, I was, of course, late to that class), I called in an order of Chinese food (bad, I know) to pick up on my way home. Since I was only a couple of minutes away from the place, I tried to take my time and drive through campus. Needless to say, I hit every light green.

Go figure.

50K

So, from what I've heard (and this was something I had never heard before), they have a run makes a marathon look simple. 50K. 32+ miles.

Dude.

I get a pain in my side even thinking about it.

In other news, I got a new cell phone today. Not the prettiest one out there, but it has gotten good reviews and, so far, I like it. Now I need to find some kind of obnoxious cover to put on it.

I also have found a roommate for the summer in Houston. She is also interning with Deloitte, but in the external audit side. Now we just need to find a place to live. I talked to an apartment locator today and I should have a few choices within the next week. I think we are going to try and live in Midtown (If not, we'll certainly be in the loop).

Yeah, that's about it.

Hip-Hop

So tonight I took a hip-hop class.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA AAHAHAHAHHAHAHA AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAHAHAHA

Man, that was some funny shit.

First off, my lack of cordination made the class a little difficult. It brought back memories of old dance classes where I would eventually get the steps, but only much later than the vast majority of the rest of the class. I may not be a fabulous choregraphed dancer, but I sure have fun doing it.

The most entertaining aspect of the class was the instructor. She had the most pronounced southern accent I've heard in a while, combined with a valley girl speech pattern and a sorority/st. joe's academy tone of voice (you know, the really bubbly, somewhat obnoxious one). She really was quite funny. Instead of saying "Okay?" it would usually just come out a "K?". It's almost as if she was talking in the short-hand communication most people use for cell phone texting.

Randomness

Well, I *think* I'm finally done with Mardi Gras for this year (and I'm only thinking this because its Ash Wednesday and it all should be over). I had fun at all the balls/parties/parades that I went to and I'm looking forward to taking a break from all that social activity (really, i can't keep it up). As mardi gras'd out as I am, I may be joining the Krewe of Jupiter next year. I'm thinking about it, but I'm not sure I should spend the money when I'm living on school loans and tax returns. I haven't let lack of money stop me from anything else, so I am pretty sure I'll be joining...I'll let ya'll know.

The light bulb in my closet went out the other day. While I was on the ladder, changing the bulb (my ceilings are high, and I'm short. Don't laugh.), I discovered a bag of old pictures and postcards that I was trying to put into a scrapbook a couple of years ago. Actually, this is a project I pick up every couple of years, so I'm sure it will never get done. I found a conversation, written on a napkin between Mary, Maureen, Melissa and I at Holly's wedding. I think it was her wedding, because Mary's parents were in attendance. It was just one of those gossippy conversations. I'm not sure why we were writing it down on a napkin. Were we bored? It was pretty damn funny. Now, if only I could find the scrapbook (it wasn't in the bag). Mo? Did you steal it? I know there were things in there you didn't necessarily approve of...Is it keeping the High Life company?

It Makes Me Want To Cry

Yangtze Cafe' has closed! I don't know why, but they have. It may have something to do with Ms. Susan (the little old lady who runs the joint), but there was never any anouncement.

Where am I going to get really good General Tso's Chicken??? Where else will they know me, not by name, but by order???
