Orion 2005

The Krewe of Orion rolled last night through the streets of downtown Baton Rouge. The turnout was really good. While Orion is a pretty popular parade, the turnout this year was the best that I've ever seen. We usually pick a spot towards the beginning of the parade and then follow it to wherever it ends (so we can help unload Dad's float when they're done). As a result, Renee and I usually rack up on beads because there are parts of the parade where the crowds not that large. This year, we didn't catch very much at all! The krewe threw a lot of stuff, but the crowd was too big!

We taught Ally the basics of catching beads at Mardi Gras. Okay, we used her a bit shamelessly to get some of the beads and stuffed animals we did get. 3-year olds usually manage to catch the attention of krewe members (we took advantage). She did manage to catch a cup, all by herself while riding on Larry's shoulders. She's a natural! We're so proud!

I also managed to learn a lot about my camera last night. I'm hoping the pictures I take tonight of Jupiter's Parade will be better. This is one of the better pictures I took. With the full mask, we let Dad pass by us three times before we realized it was him.

Flag on the Play

I shouldn't laugh at this because it's stupid, immature and wrong, but it is rather humorous all the same. Apparently, there is a group of people in the quad that have been blowing whistles and throwing yellow flags at people who are wearing unfashionable clothing and what not. I believe the group is made up of mainly football players (hence the yellow flags) and their friends. They had a funny picture of it in The Reveille, but I can't find it on there site. When I read about it, I was horrified, but I admit, I chuckled.

King Orion

This work of art was created by one of the families that we Mardi Gras with and used as a centerpiece at the Krewe of Orion ball. I didn't go to this ball, but this is too funny and I had to post a picture of it.

If you look closely, you'll see that the nipples and the belly button have spigots attached to them. Buttery Nipple and Fuzzy Navel shots pour all night long. There was a joke about having a dispenser for Mud Slides, but fortunately, the artists who created this paper mache' masterpiece showed some restraint.

I mean, really, you wouldn't want to be tacky!

I can't resist...it's too good! Posted by Hello

Krewe of Janus Ball

The Janus ball took place last night. Thank you, Carrie and Taylor, for inviting me. I had a blast. I'm sure I will get a couple of pictures posted soon, but I don't think Carrie will let me post my favorite picture from the night...a picture of me dancing with Taylor. He was dressed in drag for a skit and was letting me rest my head on his rather large, slighly lop-sided, bosom. Good times, good times.

We partied the night away without too many mishaps... at least no more than the standard drink spills and injuries (sliced my foot open on the dance floor). I was prepared for Diego's red wine antics...I made sure I wore a red dress. Ultimately, it was Greg who doused my feet with his Jack Daniels and Coke. Next year, I'm wearing brown.

I hope everyone makes it back safe. I don't envy the group that is having to make the 7 hour trip back to Austin suffering hangovers or remaining drunkness (Mo). Just the hour trip to Baton Rouge was a little rough for me!

Keep On Truckin'

Well, I'm half a CIA. I recieved my scores in the mail yesterday and I passed 2 out of the 3 parts that I took. Overall, I'm estatic! I had study hard for the two parts that I did pass, but all of my practice tests were putting me within a couple of precentage points of passing. I did not prepare, at all, for the 3rd part that I took and was very happy with my score of 78.6% (you need an 80% to pass, so I was very close). That was the true management part of the test and it makes me feel like I actually did learn something with my management degree.

So, wish me luck. I have to take the one part that I haven't taken so far and the management part again in May. That should be a fun week. I have finals the week before, Renee's commissioning into the Air Force and Mom and Renee's graduations (which are at the same time, in different buidings).

One Year Down, One More To Go

The Spring Semester starts today. I have 3 classes, back to back starting at 10:30 and ending at 3. I'm not sure when or if I will be able to eat lunch. After that, I'm heading to the mall to talk to the Gymboree store manager. Looks like they are willing to "create" a position for me. I'll admit, I didn't look too hard to find a job before calling my contacts there, but this will probably work out better than anything else. My class schedule doesn't make it easy for me to find an office job, so its retail or waiting tables...yuck.

So, for all of you starting your spring classes (and those of you who already have), good luck! I hope your semester goes well!

For those of you doing the "I don't have homework dance," you stink!

Drive By Shooting

Dukes of Hazzard has been filming at the Vet school the past couple of days. I saw Sean Williams Scott posing with fans as I drove by yesterday.

2005 - The Year of Soreness

Happy New Year! I trust everyone's New Year Celebrations went well...some of you had some rather interesting stories. I had a lot of fun in Austin. The Improv show was funny and it was a neat way to ring in the new year.

Thanks go to Mo, for letting me drag her to Austin, just so that I could stay at her place and to Carrie and Taylor for letting me drag them to North by Northwest. I really needed that Black Ale.

New Years day was food and fun filled. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if LSU had won the Citrus Bowl (I refuse to call it by it's corporate sponsor's name). For those who cooked that day, please post the recipes on Foodaliscious.

The only resolution I've made for this new year is to be more disciplined. I'm working hard to make my bed each morning, go to mass every week and excersise at least 4 times a week. I'm off to a roaring start and I'm feeling the effects. I can barely move after the "power pump" class I took yesterday. I'm sure it will be much worse after the pilates and the spin classes I have today. I promise, I'm not trying to overdo it, but I have to make sure I get my money's worth out of buying the 16-class pass at the Rec (it's only good for the rest of this week and next).
