Katrina

So, she's a catagory 5 and an absolutely beautiful hurricane. She's HUGE and so damn symmetrical...its amazing.

I don't mean to sound unconcerned. I am concerned because even though we won't feel it as badly as NOLA will, we're probably going to get more than a drop or two of rain with this one (as opposed to Ivan). I'm always awed by the power of these storms. LSU has closed for Monday which usually sends whatever storm that has been heading straight for us off in a different direction (Ivan gave us two days off from school...and we got one drop of rain for each of those days. Georges a couple of years ago did the same thing).

To everyone evacuating, and those staying in the area, best of luck. Take every precaution you can and stay safe. To anyone heading to Baton Rouge, give me a call, we'll go have a hurricane party tonight (and then batton down the hatches).

Bands

I went to watch my friend, Andy's, band play last night. Check out Lucid Soule. They have a very Bjork-ish sound, with a little bit more punk rock thrown in. While I really liked Andy's band, my NEW favorite band played right before they did.

They really aren't that great...in fact, at one point the lead singer commented on the inverse relationship of their suckiness and the great crowd (the worse they get, the better the crowd tends to be). How can you not love a band that sings the Deisel Driving Academy song, a song about how dead puppies aren't much fun and a fake EMO song (WHYYYYY????). Check out A Soup Named Stew.

Given a choice.....

would you prefer to receive (as a wedding gift) a poker set with the traditional colors or one with more of an LSU theme? (assuming of course, that you are a LSU fan)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Fall 2005

I have officially moved back to the big BR...I'm still getting settled. I've moved into the rooms that my sister occupied before she moved to Germany and so far, I'm enjoying it. The only thing that I'm really having to get used to is sleeping in the same bed as her poodle, Justice. He's a sweet dog, but he likes to get up WAY TOO EARLY. 5am is not a good time to get up the last few days before school starts. Next Monday, I have no problem with 5am, but this week, not so wild about it.

There's not really much going on here. I'm just getting ready to start school on Monday. I've bought my books, I'm about to go pick up my football tickets and I've already started on the homework I have due next Tuesday (yep, homework already ;( ) Tomorrow, I'm heading to the jewelry show in NOLA.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
