Bringing It To A Close

My 5 weeks in New Orleans is coming to a close. While I've enjoyed my time here, and would love to come back on a more permanent basis, I'm looking forward to exploring Houston a little bit before the end of this internship. If anyone has any suggestions on places to go, please let me know.

My co-worker and I enjoyed the Whiskey Blue for the 2nd night in a row. Its amazing how much more alcohol I've consumed since starting this job. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed in a bar that's named after a particular spirit but doesn't have that many unique drinks containing that spirit. The do serve several brands of whiskey, but I've been more in the mood for a mixed drink than for whiskey by itself. They do make a damn good Manhattan. I will give them that. Just be careful, they can get you into a little trouble.

Oh, and let me just mention how *unique* the minibar in the hotel is. They have everything from the standard munchies to intimacy kits, flip flops and teddy bears. Crazy.

Tolerance

Have you ever woken up with the thought, "Huh, I wonder if I closed my bar tab last night..."

While I've been drinking more since I moved to Houston (it's a little easier to live like a rock star here), my tolerance to alcohol has not improved. It is at a pathetically low level (maybe the lowest its ever been). I had a glass of wine and a beer and a half.

Drunker than I've been since Ryan Shutte's 21st B-day party! (most of you weren't there for that magical night, or some of you who were there remember even less of the evening than I do (Cade), but trust me, it wasn't a pretty site.)

Fortunatly, both my roommate and I took the Metrorail into downtown, so neither of us had to drive home.

I think the sadest thing about the evening was the fact that I was passed out, in bed, at 11:30.

Body Function EXTRAVA-GANZA!

So it's been a while...atleast it feels like its been forever since I updated this blog!

The past two weeks have gone well. I'm still in New Orleans (well, actually right now I'm in Longview, TX, but that's just a weekend away) and I will be for two more weeks. After that, I'm rolling onto a client that is based out of the Houston area. I may still travel some with them, but I don't think it will bring me to NOLA. I've enjoyed NOLA and I'm going to miss her when I'm back in H-town.

Like I said, I'm currently in Longview, TX. My sister Carrie and her family moved up here last weekend so I came up to see the house and spend some time with the kids. That explains the title. Within 30 minutes of being here, my nephew peed and spit up on me. Good thing I'm lugging two suitcases full of clothes with me! And I take comfort in the fact that I'll be able to use this experience to embarass him when he brings his first girlfriend home to meet the family. I'll stay here until tomorrow afternoon and then head back to Houston. My 4th of July should be pretty quiet...if I don't include my experiences here in Longview. ;)

Hope everyone has a Happy 4th!
